On 2/5 NOAA changed the way one accesses raw weather model data from their servers from using unsecured http protocol to secure https. HTTPS is secured using 256 bit encryption. The software we used to build the model images unfortunately did not support the https protocol. Hence the models on our site quit updating.
The good news is we now have a test version of that software that supports https (as of 2/20) and have started converting our scripts to use that software. The GFS models and the 3 hour NAM/ETA models are now running. This includes the hi-res local wind models and some of the snow models.
We still have to deal with the 1 hour NAM models and all the Snow Level and Wind Level scripts. That might take a few weeks. But the basic stuff is all functional now.
We apologize for the inconvenience for this outage. It is causing us pain too as we use all our model data to produce forecasts. We're hopeful that in the next 2-3 weeks we should have this situation resolved. We apologize again. |
