Links
Daily Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) (Long Padduck - Australia) Provides good daily raw data on the evolution of El Nino/La Nina induced surface pressure conditions. A negative SOI value indicates El Nino tendencies, while a positive value indicates La Nina. Alternate link (Uses a 1933-1992 baseline instead of the 1887-1989 baseline used in the previous link.)
SOI Historical Values (Long Padduck - Australia) Indicates month-by-month variations in the SOI. Prolonged negative values indicates El Nino while prolonged positive values indicates La Nina.
Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies (Long Padduck - Australia)
Real-Time Pacific Equatorial Water Temperature and Wind Anomalies (NOAA/TAO) A great source for viewing surface and sub-surface conditions along the equatorial Pacific Ocean, the core El Nino/La Nina breeding zone.
Current ENSO Advisory (NCEP) The latest El Nino/La Nina advisories (posted 3rd Monday of each month). Alternate monthly advisory from NOAA Coastwatch centered on California.
Weekly ENSO/Tropical Climate Advisory (Bureau of Meteorology - Australia)
Experimental Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Charts (NESDIS) Great small current SST anomaly image and a historical archive. Alternate large image.
Equatorial Pacific Altimetry Plots (NRL at Stennis Space Center) Good images depicting Sea Surface Temperature and height anomalies, prime El Nino-La Nina indicators. Updated near-daily. Similar data available for other locations across the planet here.
Select ENSO Indicators (NOAA/NCEP) Links to Sea Surface Temperature, Sub-Surface Temperature, 850 mb winds and Outgoing Longwave Radiation images.
5 Day Wind, Sea Surface Temp (SST) and 20 degree isotherm depth anomaly time series charts (NOAA/TAO) Also mean data.
5 Day Mean and Anomaly SST depths (NOAA/TAO)
Sea Surface Temperature Forecast Images (NCEP/CMB) Great images from the long-lead ENSO Coupled Model at the NCEP Climate Modeling Branch.
Sea Surface Temperature Forecasts (NOAA Climate Predication Center) More images and predictions.
